

I don’t know how it happened. One minute, I was sitting across from Kian, buried in underworld business, and the next—my phone vibrated. Two phones rang at the same time, cutting through the air like a warning, pulling my attention away from everything I’d been focused on.
I glanced at the screen, reaching for my phone without thinking, my mind too occupied to question why both phones were ringing simultaneously. My eyes locked onto the message that popped up.
And then, the world around me shattered.
The video loaded first.
My heart froze, and every breath I took felt like it was being ripped from my chest. I couldn’t look away. I didn’t want to look, but I had to.
